Sustainability
At Cut & Style, our sustainable working methods and professional products not only protect the health of your hair, but also the environment.
Sustainability in our hairdressing salons
Valuable resources such as (drinking) water, natural gas, oil and other raw materials are becoming increasingly scarce globally. This development is a worldwide challenge that affects every individual. For this reason, it is important to us to use all resources prudently and to place great value on continuous sustainability and environmental friendliness in our everyday lives. We are aware of our ecological responsibility and would like to introduce you to some of the measures we take to conserve resources.
Reduction and separation of waste
It is a matter of course for us to separate waste properly so that it can be recycled later. We also reduce waste by using cotton towels instead of paper towels. In addition, we use a variety of refillable cabinet and bulk containers in our salons to reduce waste.
Reduction of power consumption
We use green electricity in our salons. In contrast to conventionally generated electricity, green electricity is produced from environmentally friendly, renewable energy sources. These include wind energy, bioenergy, solar energy, hydroenergy and geothermal energy. In addition to reducing CO₂ emissions, the main benefit of green electricity is that it promotes investment in renewable technology.
We are also constantly endeavouring to reduce electricity consumption.
We use energy-saving appliances. Our washing machines and heat pump dryers have energy efficiency classes A++ or A+++ and therefore consume over 50 per cent less electricity than class B appliances. Our washing machines have a high spin speed of at least 1400 revolutions per minute. This means that the laundry loses a lot of water during the spin cycle and dries faster.
We also reduce electricity consumption by using energy-saving lights. Energy-saving LED lights, halogen lamps or fluorescent tubes are used for a large proportion of the salon, shelf, exterior and shop window lighting.
Thanks to these and other measures, we have been able to reduce our company's electricity consumption by over 5000 KWh per year in recent years.
Plants in the hairdressing salon
Indoor plants in the hairdressing salon not only create a pleasant atmosphere. Green plants use the chlorophyll in their leaves to convert carbon dioxide (CO₂) into oxygen, among other things, with the help of sunlight. In this way, we reduce the CO₂ footprint of our hairdressing salons.
Reduction in water consumption
In order to conserve the valuable resource of water, we ensure that we work in a water-saving manner.
In our washing areas, laboratories and staff rooms, we use water-saving nozzles that reduce water consumption and protect the environment by optimising water consumption. Our energy-efficient washing machines are characterised by low water consumption. The washing processes are well planned and only started when the drum is completely filled with towels.
Thanks to our efforts, we have reduced the water consumption of our salons by a total of over 350 cubic metres per year in recent years.
When selecting our business partners, we also pay attention to their sustainability.
Our furnishing partner OLYMP
For reasons of sustainability, OLYMP ensures that the salon equipment has a long service life and that the materials used are separated by type. This means that the materials used can be optimally recycled at the end of their useful life. In addition, the company is committed to the energy-efficient use of resources and operates its own photovoltaic system, which generates around 200,000 KWh of environmentally friendly electricity per year.

Our hair cosmetics partner GOLDWELL
As part of the KAO Group, GOLDWELL pursues a global sustainability strategy, the "Kirei Lifestyle Plan". The Kirei Lifestyle Plan defines three sustainability goals:

100% of Kao brands make it easy for people to make small but meaningful decisions that together shape a responsible thinking and acting society. - "A cleaner and healthier environment"
100% of Kao products leave a scientifically proven, positive ecological footprint.

We always critically review what we have achieved.
We always aim to act responsibly for the present and future generations. We therefore see sustainability as an ongoing process in which what we have achieved is constantly subjected to a critical review and we take new measures where necessary.
